Case study for Larimar Counseling & Consulting.

Larimar Counseling & Consulting is a company headed by Dr. Jessenia Ogunade—an international psychologist specializing in sexual trauma and grief. Larimar was created from lived experience, advanced psychological training, and decades of work inside systems where trauma, power, and consequence intersect, including the real-world impacts of policy, enforcement, and institutional decision-making on individuals, families, and communities. I've had experiences with medical companies before, but none that focused on psychology. This was such an amazing opportunity to create a design that focused on professionalism and empathy.

I was truly lucky to have a business owner who was so laser-focused on what she wanted, and all I needed to do was marry her vision to both the design and functionality. We chose to do a lighter theme, with off-white, blue, and gold tones. Highlighting who she was and the services she offered. The design is simple, letting the information speak for itself. All of her services are displayed to guide the customer to reach out to her for more information.

I decided to also leverage Statamic as a Content Management System (CMS). While this would enable her to update the content of the site, I wanted to leverage the easy form functionality. This allowed me to quickly create a new form that could add a honeypot (to drive bots away) as well as a simple table to read any submissions. While this was an elegant solution, I wanted to ensure that she would only need to go into the dashboard to remove any old submissions. This is when I leveraged Laravel.

Statamic is built on Laravel, a PHP framework. I created an email service that connects to an affordable 3rd party provider. Whenever the form was filled out, the contents of the form would be immediately emailed to them. From there, I also established additional protections against bots by using Cloudflare. This would force a user to check that they are not a robot before submitting. A simple test, but one that only a human can do.

All of this amounted to a clean and professional site that allowed her potential clients to reach out quickly and easily while protecting her.
